K2 CHALLENGE CUP

This unique and proudly Bonanza event has proven to be the highlight of the golfing calendar. What was conceptualized by Bonanza member, Ulrich Lassen, two of Lusaka’s premium golf courses go head to head in what is a replica format of the Ryder cup. Bonanza members have the opportunity to earn their spot in the team, by competing in monthly qualifying games to accumulate points throughout the year where a top 8 is identified – Captains then have their pick on wild cards to join their team of 14.

Lusaka Golf Club started the games with a steady pace, being up on day 1 having began with betterball. Day 2 once again saw Lusaka continue to maintain their lead as they walked away victorius after the foursomes played morning of day 2. A fantastic win from South Africa in the Rugby World Cup 2019 enjoyed over lunch ensured both teams were fired up and ready to battle head to head in a nail-biting singles. Finally, it was Lusaka Golf Course who were crowned the 2019 K2 Challenge Cup Champions.

2018 Results

Bonanza dominated day one with a 5 point lead as the teams waited in anticipation on the 18th green for the final team to come in after the first round with the foursomes’ format. The morning of day two saw Lusaka Golf Club gain 5 points as they annihilated the betterball format, leaving much pressure on the players who then went head to head in the afternoon singles.

It was Lusaka Golf Club who were eventually crowned the 2018 K2 Challenge Cup Champions, as they dominated the singles in the afternoon.
