2-3 November 2018 saw two of Lusaka’s premium golf courses going head to head in the inaugural K2 Challenge Cup. The event brought together a group of experienced golfers who not only have pride in representing their respective courses, but also a strong passion for the great game of golf.

The event was conceptualized by Bonanza Member, and Bonanza team Captain Ulrich Lassen who led the Bonanza team on home turf, hoping for an inaugural victory. Fourteen players from Lusaka Golf lub and Bonanza Golf Course competed against each other in what is a replica format of the Ryder cup.

This event is very exciting for Bonanza Members, where this year the team was selected from Members who have consistently taken part in our Saturday competitions. Next year however there will be points up for grabs every month which will give all Members the opportunity earn their spot in the team, also encouraging them to play consistently. They will need to compete consistently at Bonanza to accumulate points throughout the year. Click on the qualifying tab to see how you can make the team in 2019.

Bonanza dominated day one with a 5 point lead as the teams waited in anticipation on the 18th green for the final team to come in after the first round with the foursomes’ format. The morning of day two saw Lusaka Golf Club gain 5 points as they annihilated the betterball format, leaving much pressure on the players who then went head to head in the afternoon singles.

It was Lusaka Golf Club who were eventually crowned the 2018 K2 Challenge Cup Champions, as they dominated the singles in the afternoon.
